Brief School History

Drewry Secondary School

Before 1990, the school building at 70 Drewry Avenue (where Drewry Secondary School is located now) was known as Drewry Public School. The staff and students were moved to this location from the school at Hilda and Drewry (known previously as L.S. Beattie). Drewry Secondary School was officially opened in 1990.

First Alumnae Reunion

On September 27, 2007, Drewry held it’s first ever Alumnae Reunion. Graduates from 1990 to the present were invited to attend this special celebration. Our theme was - Sharing our Successes - as there have been so many wonderful success stories created by our past students. The event was very well attended. The program included messages from our Trustee, Mari Rutka, Principal Paul Au, and the past School Council Chair, Mary Seguin. Musical entertainment was provided by our choir and drum ensemble led by the very talented Ms. Hrycak. Another evening highlight was dancing by Jessica Lacroix and Shawn Ganesh. Past graduates were invited to share there stories of success – all very inspiring to hear about their journeys after finishing high school! The program was followed by delicious refreshments prepared by Ms. Doray and Ms. Halstead. Thanks goes out to the many staff and students that helped prepare for this grand evening.

NEW Drewry Alumnae Association

On Thursday February 21st, 2008 at 6:15 p.m., we will be holding our first meeting to form our Alumnae Association. At this meeting we will be establishing the goals and vision for the Association. It is our hope to keep our past graduates involved with us and share their experiences and challenges with our present students. The Alumnae Association welcomes all interested staff and students to attend this first meeting. Dinner/snacks will be pot-luck. Hope to see you there.

Ms. Katherine Beckwith
